The Star Farmers

For the passed ten weeks I've been taking part in the Concept Design Academy's "Story Development for Animation" sequel course, taught by Tron Mai of DreamWorks Animation. I'm shifting all my Story Portfolio work over to my other blog, so check it out!

More Slams

Two more episodes boarded by yours truly!

Also, I briefly worked on the Gorgon sequence towards the end last summer:

Breakfast Time

Over the fall I was lucky enough to board for these four Denny's Grand Slam spots, produced by Stoopid Buddy Studios!

Sushi Ninja

I worked on developing these three shorts last summer - of our two-person team and a one-page treatment, my assignment was short, "They fight, it resolves somehow."

Starting when the Nachos show up in episode 2, the rest of the story is more-or-less as I initially pitched it (with some short additions later in production)

I must say, it's definitely a trip seeing your sequence re-transcribed into another language... and the to have a re-re-transcribed English dub, too!

Car Bees

I was stuck in traffic on the way to work a few weeks back. As I neared the breaking point of how much sitting still I could take before my head exploded, I noticed a honey bee landing on my car door, right outside the window. I generally park under a tree (and rarely get my car washed), so the pollen must have attracted the little guy.

In that instant, it all became clear. At the top of my lungs, I exclaimed "Bees? BEES!!" and - in almost this exact form - though of this:

"Car Bees"

The Legend of Nancy

Earlier this month we lost our sweet bulldog, Nancy. It was a heart-breaking experience that began January 1st, with a swift decline over the next week-and-a-half. Seemingly on a dime, she went from our big, dumb, lovably-active bully, to having incredible pain in her back, and unable to walk. Only after several trips to the vet was it determined to most likely be a form of Bone Cancer. After having her but a short 9 months, our poor little 4-year-old puppy had to be let go.

At least, that's what the paperwork says…

I present to you now, the true story of her departure:

Autumn Breeze

Fall in Los Angeles is like Brigadoon - only once in a blue moon will the air be that perfect blend of cool and crisp that perfectly encapsulates autumn. It was just so a few days ago...

I was walking down the block, and the air was perfect... crisp... I wanted to breathe I in.

Lessons learned: always look ahead.
